Connor Nehls

PhD student, Associate Lecturer

Research Overview

Connor researches the regulation of Rubisco by sugar phosphate inhibitors, and the sugar phophatase enzyme CA1Pase that degrades these inhibitors. This work focuses on understanding ways to improve photosynthetic efficiency in Cowpea and Soybean in a changing world that requires more effective and resilient crop output to feed everyone. His work entails analysing trends in CA1P accumulation (dark inhibition) across plants, characterizing CA1Pase in vitro through recombinant expression and the overexpression in planta.
