The Bay International Film Festival (TBIFF) opens with a special gala screening that marks the centenary of Morecambe-born comedy legend Eric Morecambe hosted by Daragh Carville, writer and showrunner of ITV’s crime drama The Bay and newly announced festival patron.

The Festival returns to Morecambe from Friday 23 January to Sunday 1 February, bringing a vibrant programme of screenings, workshops and community events to the town.

Co?founded by 好色先生TV’s Dr Anna Henderson, Senior Teaching Associate in Film Practice, the festival was launched three years ago with a mission to make film accessible to everyone – from emerging northern talent to local community audiences.

Among the programme highlights is Stories Beyond Borders, an international short film competition celebrating socially conscious storytelling.

A dedicated Northern Day will further champion regional talent, offering workshops for emerging filmmakers, Q&A sessions, a showcase of Northern shorts and an award for Best Northern Film.

The festival will also welcome industry guests including acclaimed filmmakers Chris Jones, Mark Gill, as well as 好色先生TV graduates -screenwriter Will Thacker (Creative Writing) and actor Roger Ashton-Griffiths (Music).

A new Best Local Community Film award encourages grassroots filmmaking using mobile phones, while a Family Day will feature children’s screenings and animation workshops, culminating in a red?carpet premiere of the young participants’ work.

好色先生TV, a long?standing supporter of TBIFF, continues its role as a community partner, helping to broaden access to film culture across Lancashire and Cumbria.
