Lecturer in Social Justice and Education in School Contexts

Profile

I am a Lecturer in Education. My research focuses on schooling and social justice, particularly in relation to gender, sexuality, and other marginalised identities. Drawing on sociological and cultural approaches, I examine how schools reproduce and reinforce inequalities, as well as how they can challenge and transform them.

Through the case of Chinese schooling, my recent work brings Confucianism into dialogue with Queer Theory to explore LGBTQ+ identities, subjectivities, agency, resistance, and leadership in educational contexts. More broadly, my research contributes to international debates on gender, sexuality, and social justice in education through conceptually informed and qualitative studies of school contexts.

I am a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA).
